It’s truly not that I’m one to rain on anybody’s parade, but could there possibly be anything more cliché than donning red in the month of love?!
I personally feel that there are more romantic colours out there, and I am quite partial towards white and a subtler, rosy pink. In fact, I think that all pastel tones can elicit a certain romantic panache from your outfit. Throw in some flirty types of fabric such as lace, bell sleeves – as I did here – and top the look off with a glamorous hairstyle. There are a million ways to interpret love through your clothing; don’t just settle for the laziest option available to you (unless it really is that special WOW-factor red dress!).
Dramatic sleeves are an unbelievable no-brainer when it comes to injecting elegance into your wardrobe. I can’t seem to get enough of these long, flowing sleeve styles! They also look amazing with the off-the-shoulder blouse trend. See my 2016 Halloween Black Swan inspired post to have a look at this style.
While you’re being all pure and soft and minimal, don’t forget to let your personality shine through your ensemble by adding little ‘suggestions’ here and there. My favourite pieces are statement bags, so I paired the whole toned-down look with one of my ultimate crossbody bags. It also lends a lovely pop of colour to the outfit, without being too loud. You may love incredible shoes, so you could go with these amazing showstoppers for your feet (and this makes me realize that I love good shoes, too. Sigh).
And whether you’re single, in a relationship or not even sure what you are – remember to give love and allow yourself to be loved by those close to you, no matter what day, month or year it just so happens to be!
Much love from me to you,
