While posts about the festive season are on the rise, we prefer to pay tribute to those ladies who will be hustling their way through the holidays by treating them to some outfit inspiration! We respect you, we love you and we celebrate you!
Ahhh, the white shirt – ever the versatile, basic must-have in every working girl’s wardrobe. White shirts seem so simple, but there are many little expert tricks that will help you get them down to a fine art: –
Opt for soft, flowing fabric that does not appear flimsy at the same time. You will enjoy the ability to move about without appearing too rigid, or stiff to co-workers (or employees!).
Try to find a shirt that will look good tucked in and also look lovely if it’s left untucked. There are many women out there who need to transition from work-wear to casual-wear within a few minutes and this can come in handy for an emergency girl’s night out!
It can be very difficult to find a shirt that you are totally happy with. However, being circumspect about what you settle on will make all the difference. If needs be, have your shirts tailored to fit you like they were made just for you. And always ensure that your shirts are ironed out perfectly!
Other tips for acing your workwear closet: –
Sometimes fashion is not entirely practical, but save yourself the unnecessary heel-ache by swopping out painful high-heeled pumps for some chunky block heels. Your feet will be thanking you!
Another way to protect your feet from painful blisters and bruises is to wear some stockings. A good-quality pair of Wolford stockings would do you well, as long as you don’t go for any artistic, lacy garters if you’re wearing a very short skirt (this might not seem appropriate in the work place).
Pair your outfit with a structured, sturdy bag that looks serious, but beautiful in its own way. Organise your belongings in the bag to suit your working needs. This may sound like a joke, but an organised worker is (almost) always on top of everything!
Set your hair in curlers overnight and then clip them back into a loose chignon in the morning. This is perfect for a quick and sophisticated hairstyle. Use very little hair spray to just secure ends in place and you won’t be worrying about your hair for the rest of the day!
Invest in gorgeous blazers, coats and the like. Start out with the timeless pieces like a black blazer, a camel trench and, depending on your workplace’s dress code, you can then have a little fun with embroidered items too!
Lastly, lift your head up high – even in the face of failure – and don’t forget to have integrity, kindness, wisdom and strength. This one has nothing to do with workwear, but it’s always good to remember, nevertheless!
